  • Garic Powder

  • Black Pepper
  • Half and Half or Milk
  • Pizza Sauce for dipping

The air fryer makes it easy to cook frozen pizza rolls; no oil is required, though a light oil mist makes them even crispier.

How to Make Frozen Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer

This recipe is specifically for making frozen pizza rolls, like Totino’s or Amy’s Pizza Snacks, that you’ve purchased at the store. Any variety of frozen pizza rolls from a store will do. In the air fryer, they all finish cooking at a similar pace.

The bag of pizza rolls can be added to the air fryer after the empty air fryer basket has been in the air fryer for 5 minutes of preheating at 380 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bags of Totino’s are offered in counts of 15, 50, and 100 or more. Depending on the size of your basket, you can cook up to 25 at once in an air fryer. You’ll need to cook them in multiple batches if you need more than that.

Although it’s quite simple, we don’t have a recipe for the rolls; all you need to do is get wonton wrappers, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese, and roll everything up.

Here are the steps:

  1. Place 12-18 Totino’s pizza rolls in a single layer in your air fryer basket or tray. Cooking oil spray is not required. (Air fryer oven: use top rack position.)
  2. At 390F (200C), air fry pizza rolls for 8 minutes. At the halfway point of cooking, shake or flip the pizza rolls (i.e., after 4 minutes). Pizza rolls should be fully cooked when they reach an internal temperature of 165F (74C).
  3. Please note that when pizza rolls come out of the air fryer, they are VERY HOT. Let them cool for at least 2-3 minutes before eating, and bite into them carefully. Serve with hot marinara or another dipping sauce.

Tip: Pizza rolls should be sprayed with cooking spray before being air-fried if they are Amy’s brand pizza rolls. I found this brand of pizza rolls crisps up better with the added oil. Use non-aerosol cooking spray to preserve the finish on your air fryer basket.

The equipment you need to make air fryer frozen pizza rolls is a meat thermometer and an air fryer. Any air fryer brand should work, including Nuwave, Ninja Foodi, Kalorik, Breville, Philips, and Cosori. However, you may need to adjust the cooking times if you use a different air fryer than I’m using.

In the Ninja air fryer this time, I prepared Totino’s pizza rolls. I’ve also used these pizza roll instructions with an air fryer oven. If you use a small air fryer, you might have to cook your food in several batches.

FAQs

What Brand of Air Fryer Was This Recipe Tested With?

This recipe was tested using the Duo Crisp and Cosori air fryer.

Why Do the Pizza Rolls Burst When They Cook?

Avoiding burst pizza rolls can be challenging. They explode under the pressure of internal steam buildup, allowing the pizza roll filling to escape. The best way to reduce the bursting is to take them out when they start bursting.

After 6 minutes, check on them occasionally while they cook. They seem to taste just as good, if not better, when they burst and the cheese and tomato sauce spill out!

How Do You Keep Pizza Rolls from Exploding in Air Fryer?

Pizza rolls should not be overcooked to prevent explosions in air fryers. Every time you try a new air fryer recipe, be sure to watch the food closely because air fryers all cook a little bit differently. If your pizza rolls frequently explode, using a lower temperature (375F) might be helpful.

What If the Pizza Rolls Aren’t Crispy and Golden Brown

If you find that the pizza rolls are undercooked, add an extra minute or two to the air frying time.

Are Pizza Rolls Better in the Oven Or Air Fryer?

Pizza rolls don’t seem to taste any different in the air fryer versus the oven. But compared to the time it takes to preheat the oven, you can cook pizza rolls in the air fryer much faster. The air fryer is, in my opinion, the best way to prepare frozen pizza rolls due to the shorter cooking time.

What Can I Do With Leftover Pizza Rolls?

Pizza rolls that are still warm should be sealed in a container. They can be reheated by air frying them for 2 to 3 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can You Use Pizza Stones in Air Fryers?

If a pizza stone fits in the air fryer, then you can use it. Most regular air fryers can’t fit a pizza stone, but you may be able to use an air fryer oven.

Can I Double the Quantity?

If you need to air fry double the quantity, you can do it in two batches. Due to the hot air fryer, the second batch might cook quicker.
