It couldn’t be simpler to use this “set it and forget it” approach. After rinsing, combine the rice with salt, butter, and water before putting it in the air fryer to do its magic. In no time, you’ll have mouthwatering jasmine rice ready to serve!

Key Ingredients for Air Fryer Fried Rice

Air Fryer Fried Rice - Can It be Used as Rice Cooker?
  • Rice: You must use cooled, cooked rice for this recipe. Although cooked rice can be kept in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use it, leftover rice is preferred. For this recipe, both white and brown rice work well.
  • Vegetables: There is a ton of flavor from fresh garlic and onion. I also add in frozen mixed vegetables for ease. Green beans, corn, peas, and carrots make up my mixed vegetables; however, the grocery store is full of different varieties. Choose your favorite!
  • Egg: Eggs are a necessity for fried rice! Eggs were scrambled and then added to the rice.
  • Soy Sauce: Salt and umami are added by soy sauce. There’s no need to add any additional salt!
  • Oyster Sauce: This Air Fryer Fried Rice gets a little sweetness and tang from oyster sauce. It’s so good!
  • Sesame Oil: Nearly all of my Asian-inspired recipes call for the nutty-tasting oil sesame, which I use. It greatly enhances the rice!
  • Butter: In addition to adding flavor, butter prevents the rice from sticking together. To my fried rice recipes, I always add butter.

How to Make Air Fryer Fried Rice

Add the ingredients to a pan: Turn the air fryer on to 350 degrees. In the meantime, fill an oven-safe pan with melted butter, scrambled eggs, frozen mixed vegetables, onion, garlic, cooked rice, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. A 8 x 3 cake pan was employed.

Cook: For 10 to 15 minutes, cook the fried rice in the air fryer. Stir every 5 minutes and cook until the rice and veggies are warmed through.

Serve: As soon as possible, serve the Air Fryer Fried Rice with optional green onion garnish! I love serving this with Air Fryer Egg Rolls!

How Long Should I Cook Rice in the Air Fryer?

White rice should be pressure-cooked for three minutes. After that, permit a natural pressure release to occur for ten minutes. Cook whole-grain brown rice under high pressure for 15 minutes, then let it naturally release pressure for 10 minutes if you prefer.

What Rice to Water Ratio Should I Use?

When preparing rice in the Ninja Foodi air fryer, consideration must be given to both the water to rice ratio and the cooking time. Use a ratio of 1:1.25; so one cup of rice (6.5 ounces or 200 grams) to each one and one-quarter cups of cold water (300 ml). As an illustration, for 3 cups of rice, you will need 31/4 cups of water, and so on. If you like your rice to be al dente (bright and chewy), use a 1:1 ratio.

Do I Need to Rinse the Rice Prior to Cooking?

Yes, washing the uncooked rice helps to remove extra starch from the grains. We definitely don’t want clumpy rice that can have a gummy texture, which is what will happen if you skip this step.

Make sure to rinse the rice several times until the water runs mostly clear. It’s okay if it’s never entirely clear! It will be much simpler to achieve the fluffy, light texture we all love as long as the rice has been thoroughly rinsed.

How to Store Leftover Rice

The most crucial action is allowing any leftover rice to completely cool to room temperature. Rice will clump together if you attempt to store it while it is still warm due to condensation.

Once fully cooled, transfer your rice to an airtight container. For up to 4 days, it can stay fresh in the fridge.

Can I Make Other Kinds of Rice in the Air Fryer?

Are you unsure how to prepare rice in an air fryer if you don’t have any jasmine rice? The short answer is yes, but cooking times will differ.

The cooking times for rice with long and short grains will vary. For example, cooking brown rice will take longer. While basmati rice will be similar to jasmine in texture, keep an eye on the water in the pan to make sure it doesn’t overcook or undercook.

How to Reheat Rice in the Air Fryer

  1. Place the leftover rice in a cake pan or 6-inch air fryer pan.
  2. Rice should be placed in the air fryer after the pan has been tightly covered with aluminum foil.
  3. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until hot, at 320 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Allow to sit 10 minutes, then fluff with a fork and serve.

Making Ahead and Storage

The cooked rice will keep in the fridge in airtight containers or Ziploc bags for 3-5 days and for up to 6 months in the freezer. Heat the rice before using it in the microwave or over low heat on the stove. To stop it from drying out during reheating, add a couple tablespoons of water or broth.

Useful Tips

Air Fryer Fried Rice - Can It be Used as Rice Cooker?
  • Although it is not required, I advise rinsing the rice to remove any debris and extra starch. The fluffier rice is also a result of this.
  • The rice to water ratio should be considered. Rice becomes mushy if there is too much water added. It becomes chewy if there is insufficient water.
  • Rice is prepared using the pressure cooking feature in this air fryer recipe. Rice should be transferred to a cake pan and covered with aluminum foil if your air fryer model does not have a pot or a pressure cooking feature. Sprinkle salt and water on top, then air fry for 25 minutes at 360°F (180°C). After the allotted time has passed, take the cake pan out of the air fryer and carefully fluff with a fork. Serve immediately.
