Finding the ideal shampoo is crucial. If you’re blonde, you also have to deal with sifting through the sea of purple shampoos on the market to find the best shampoo for your shade in addition to learning how to use shampoo bars and when to use powder shampoo.

Violet pigments in the professional clarifying system Matrix Total Results So Silver Shampoo help to balance brassy blonde hair.

The Matrix Total Results So Silver Shampoo works best to maintain my combination of warm buttery tones and some cool tones.

What Does Matrix Total So Silver Do?

You should incorporate the Matrix Total Results So Silver system into your routine if you want to get rid of brass in between salon visits. A professional clarifying system called Matrix Total Results So Silver Purple Shampoo and Conditioner uses violet pigments to cool brassy blonde hair.

These formulas exfoliate and condition while removing dull, yellow tones and unwanted brassy warmth. All shades of blonde hair, from gray to platinum, are brightened and illuminated by them.

How Often to Use Matrix Total Results So Silver Shampoo?

Although the shampoo has some color, it doesn’t stain my hands or the shower floor. I prefer to leave it on for one to two minutes rather than the three to five minutes the brand suggests for maximum toning power. This keeps my blonde incredibly bright because over-toning can make even the most platinum-clear shades look dull.

I wash my hair once or twice a week on average, but this shampoo doesn’t seem to be as drying as most purple shampoos, which I can only use once a week due to their drying properties. Actually, after washing with this formula, my hair feels just as soft as it does after washing with a moisturizing shampoo.

This shampoo is a must-try if you want to brighten a warm blonde shade like mine while toning blonde hair without turning gray or platinum hair lavender.

Can You Use Matrix So Silver Everyday?

Due to the pigment in these products, we advise using them once or twice a week or whenever your blonde shade needs to be refreshed. You should wash and condition your hair with a color-safe system, such as Matrix Total Results Color Obsessed Shampoo and Conditioner, when you aren’t using color-toning shampoo and conditioner.

Can You Use Matrix So Silver on Dry Hair?

Use the Matrix Total Results So Silver system even if your hair is dry. The Total Results So Silver Conditioner is made to hydrate dry, brittle hair while giving your strands a high-shine, glossy appearance.

How I Use Matrix Total Results So Silver Shampoo and Conditioner in My Routine

I’ll admit that when I decided to try the So Silver duo, my expectations weren’t exactly high. I prefer for my blonde to look silver—almost gray—and I hadn’t yet discovered a shampoo or conditioner that could sufficiently remove the warmth from my blonde and restore my salon-fresh silver shade.

However, when I first cracked open the shampoo bottle, I was pleasantly surprised. I generously poured some into my hands and was pleased to see how pigmented the mixture was. It’s a deep, rich violet color, and if I didn’t know any better, I might have thought it was purple hair dye. But in my experience, the better shampoo is the one with more color.

Lathering up, I applied a palmful to my scalp. A pleasing lather was produced by the shampoo; it was light and almost silky in texture. To encourage brass removal and give your hair a more cool finish, you can either rinse the shampoo off right away or leave it in for a few minutes, as directed on the bottle. I chose the latter.

After about three minutes, I rinsed my hair with lukewarm water after letting the rich, purple lather sit in my hair. You should be aware that it may stain your hands slightly; if you’re worried about staining your skin (or nails), I suggest putting on latex gloves before washing your mane.

After shampooing, I poured a palmful of the So Silver Conditioner into my hands and massaged the thin formula through my strands once more, working it in from the very ends to just below the roots. I noticed right away that it made my hair feel incredibly soft—a challenge given how many times I’ve bleached it in the past year—and that my tangles disappeared right away.

I could immediately tell there was a difference when I looked at my (admittedly, dripping-wet) strands after I got out of the shower. My hair appeared considerably less yellow and had a lot more shine than usual compared to how it had looked before getting in the shower.

I made the decision to let my hair air dry without using any products because that is how I usually style (or not style, as the case may be) my hair. My Matrix Total Results So Silver before and after photos are shown above. I then took some pictures to document the difference between my hair before and after the treatment.

My blonde is significantly cooler—much closer to the silvery hue I prefer—and looks smoother and shinier, which is a noticeable difference. Additionally, after only one use, it is much softer than usual. I’ll just say I was impressed.

The Matrix So Silver Shampoo and Conditioner bottles’ instructions suggest using the pair once or twice per week. I intend to use the system twice or three times a week because my blonde hair tends to get brassy fairly quickly and I like the coolest shade of blonde possible.

I’ve only used it twice so far, but I’ll definitely continue to use the system as part of my regular hair care regimen. The Matrix So Silver Shampoo and Conditioner has earned the endorsement of this bleached blonde.

Top Reviews for So Silver Shampoo

From Anna:

About once every nine weeks, I have my hair highlighted at the salon, after which she applies a toner. It’s gorgeous when I leave, but if I use regular shampoo, the “prettiness”—the ash tones, probably what the salon’s toner did—basically wash out and the lightest, highlighted strands don’t look ash anymore (at least not as much as I like).

The ash tone on my highlighted, lighter strands is essentially redeposited by this shampoo. They might even appear light lavender if I left it on for a while—that’s not the look I’m going for, but this would achieve it!).

The shampoo should be left on for five minutes according to the directions; however, after about ten minutes, I’ve noticed that my lighter strands have a tawny, almost lavender hint to them. This is SO INCREDIBLY PRETTY! Actually, I’ve gotten compliments on how lovely it is! I could never imagine stopping my use of purple shampoo.

From Acorn Rose:

I started using this to give my gray hair more luster at my hairdresser’s suggestion, and I was very happy with the results. It felt better and my hair got softer and less dry. Because it is a natural part of my aging appearance, I have kept my grey hair in place. Instead of the tendency for dryer or more course hair, this product helps you keep it manageable. To anyone who wants to stay gray, I heartily endorse it.
