Iced coffee sounds so straightforward. (Just iced coffee, right?) But it’s actually a tricky drink! In contrast to coffee shops, where iced coffee is frequently made using coffee that has been brewed twice as strong (to account for ice dilution), iced coffee is typically made at home (or, at least, at my home) using leftover hot coffee that I have chilled in the refrigerator. It takes patience, so my system isn’t the best. (Coffee connoisseurs will also inform you that it produces a more acidic and bitter beverage, but that discussion is best saved for another time.)
The Zoku iced coffee maker can quickly turn hot coffee into instant iced coffee without diluting the coffee. I can only pour hot coffee over ice if I want iced coffee and only have hot coffee on hand. However, as the ice melts, I keep adding more, until all that’s left is water with coffee flavoring. Which is why I got so excited when I found this gadget from Zoku, which promises to make instant iced coffee.
Zoku Iced Coffee Maker Overview
The Zoku Instant Iced Coffee Maker appears to be a typical travel mug, but it is much more. The outer shell, lid, and straw are made of BPA-free plastic and have a removable stainless steel inner core. The stainless steel inner core must be frozen for at least eight hours (I did it over night) before using the iced coffee maker. When your hot coffee is ready to be turned into iced coffee, remove the inner core from the freezer, place it inside the outer plastic shell, pour your hot coffee inside, and top it off with the lid and straw.

How to Use Zoku Iced Coffee Maker
I began by drinking 169°F hot, freshly brewed coffee. The coffee reached temperatures suitable for iced coffee after eight and twelve minutes in the tumbler, respectively: 39 and 35 degrees Fahrenheit. I loved that the coffee was super cold without any ice and stayed that way as I sipped, with no flavor dilution or that typical watery stuff you get towards the bottom of the cup.
There are some negatives. The cup can hold a small iced coffee, or about eight ounces, in actuality. Perhaps this isn’t big enough for you if you drink a lot of coffee. Additionally, the plastic shell’s exterior perspires a lot while in use, making it a little slippery to hold. However, I still think it’s a fun tool for quickly preparing iced coffee (or tea!) at home. And I’ll definitely keep the stainless steel inner core in my freezer at all times so I can have iced coffee whenever the mood strikes.
How Does Zoku Iced Coffee Maker Work?
Making iced coffee at home is quick and simple with the help of Zoku. Simply fill the pitcher with cold brew concentrate, add water, and then add ice. The pitcher includes a filter to keep coffee grounds out of your cup. Simply add water, ice, and one cup of cold brew concentrate to the pitcher to prepare. The rest will be handled by the coffee maker, which will quickly brew a perfect cup of iced coffee.
Zoku’s Iced Coffee Maker makes it simple to make iced coffee in minutes. The following instructions are given in a straightforward manner. At least eight hours should pass before opening the inner core; place it in the freezer. Before pouring the coffee into the cup, there is no need to wait until it has cooled. Coffee can be made in advance using the $30 Zoku Iced Coffee Maker. Using the tumbler’s stainless steel inner core, you can maintain your beverage’s coldness throughout the entire process. For the purpose of serving a second cup, the iced coffee’s core must be re-frozen.
