You can use the mop pad dry and water in a spray bottle or the Spray Mop Attachment, which allows you to “have water on board,” or you can wet the pad and wring it out.

How to Use the Mop

The mop is available in two sizes (large and small) and three different mop pads. The system is easy to use if you follow the directions. When you start out using it, you may notice that the mop has a slight tendency to “flip” if you move it backwards. You get used to mopping in overlapping loops or loose figure-8 patterns because similar mops of this design all have this.

Types of Mop Heads

Dry Mop Pad (Yellow) – This is for cleaning the floor of any dust, hair, or crumbs. Seriously, the dry pad performs superior to my vacuum. I try to follow the direction of the floor when cleaning hardwoods, and it effectively reaches the tiny crevices.

It works especially well on grooved surfaces like travertine tile. However, I believe that this mop pad has seen the least amount of use out of all of them. Although I already have a dusting wand, it’s nice for dusting baseboards.

Rubber Brush – (I can purchase these from Amazon for less money here.) I find that shaking the dry mop outside to clean it is sufficient, but many people use this brush to remove the mop heads and dispose of them in the trash. This little brush is a MIRACLE WORKER though for cleaning sofas, dog hair off clothes, crumbs on car seats, and the corners of carpeted stairs or bathmats that can’t be vacuumed. It’s amazing!

• Pushing a flip-down button activates the locking mechanism of the mop system. The base can rotate in any direction if you don’t lock it; this feature is useful for getting under your furniture.
• My old mop was small enough to fit under furniture but the pad would pop up if you laid it on the floor. The Norwex mop makes it simple to access tight spaces and underneath furniture.
• I have used this mop exclusively for over 2 years with only 1 of each pad and all have held up great.

Negatives of the Mop

• The major factor is THE COST. At first, I resisted it, even though you will actually save money by using reusable mop pads.
• As soon as you own one, you’ll probably start amassing accessories. The rubber brush works amazingly well to remove pet hair from couches, at least for me it did.
• It won’t fit into small spaces because the large mop head is very large. They do make a smaller pad for areas like that which I use as well.
• The small pad will not fit on the large base, and the opposite is true. (Yes, I tried)
• The telescopic pole hasn’t been easy for me to quickly adjust for different heights.
• For me, there was no discernible difference between the tile mop and a regular wet mop pad when it came to cleaning vinyl tiles.

How to Care for a Norwex Mop

A Norwex mop is incredibly simple to maintain. Shake the dusting pad out once you’re finished using it, or use the Rubber Brush to brush the dirt and debris into the trash. You don’t have to wash it after each use unless you want to.

When you’re finished using the wet pad, wring it out and hang it to dry while you rub it against itself under warm running water. Mold and mildew are prevented from growing in the microfiber by the BacLock® substance.

How Do You Wash Norwex Mop Pads?

When you’re ready to wash them, just throw them in the washing machine without any linty items, bleach, or fabric softener. In order to avoid clogging the microfiber over time, making it less effective and ultimately costing you more money, I advise using Norwex Ultra Power Plus laundry detergent. It is very basic and isn’t packed with fillers that can cause the microfiber to become clogged.

Can the Norwex Mop Pads Go in the Dryer?

Yes, they absolutely can, just don’t use any dryer sheets. You don’t want your microfiber to have the coating dryer sheets leave on fabrics because that will reduce its cleaning power.

Norwex Microfiber Mop Vs. Steam Mops

I’ve tried using traditional mops, which require carrying around a bucket of water, stick mops with pads and sprays, and water-only steam mops. When you clean with a Norwex mop, you just use water so I’ll compare my experience to the steam mop where I was just using water as well.

I previously used a steam mop to clean my kitchen floor, but it was cumbersome, took a while to heat up, and required two tank fills. My other complaint was that the pad had a sort of waffle weave and never seemed to clean up in the washing machine.

Because my Norwex mop is easier to push, maneuver, and use, and because I don’t have to wait for the water to heat up, the cleaning process takes less time overall (about 1/4 of the time) with it. After all, who wants to clean their kitchen floor for 45 minutes?

The cheapest steam mop costs $40 and has unfavorable reviews, according to a quick search on Amazon and Walmart. The $60 to $80 range is where you can find steam mops that are generally favorable to excellent.
